Ryan: Hi everyone! This is Ryan Kimball.
Mike: And this is Mike Tyler. Together, Ryan and I co-founded the Competence Institute.
Ryan: Our mission is to help people by empowering them with the tools and guidance they need to fill in the gaps in their education, cultivate future studies, and enhance their capacity to envision and create their own prosperous future.
Mike: That's right, Ryan. To be clear, we service people of all ages and from all walks of life. We have specialized educational programs for different groups of people, and these programs are further tailored to fit the individual based on their personal background, education, and experience. Anyone can improve their life through education.
Real education leads to competence, the ability to perform actions successfully and efficiently. Competence, for an individual, usually leads to better pay and living conditions. A person's own morale is directly linked to their ability to produce effective results in the activities they are engaged in.
True competence can extend into having competent companions, competent co-workers, bosses, and employees. Competent children who become Competent adults, etc. It becomes a widening circle of people who know what they're doing and can produce results in whatever endeavors they undertake. This can all be accomplished through effective education.
Ryan: Okay, great. We are here to help anyone who wants to improve their life through education. Let's take up some of the specific groups of people for whom we have created tailor made educational programs.
Mike: Okay. One of our specialized clients is the parent, or set of parents, of the still at home teenager who has gone off the rails.
This kid, really an adult still living at home, is not just having study difficulties, they are now causing themselves, their parents, and a whole lot of other people, a whole lot of trouble. This is a unique situation in today's educational landscape. School was supposed to prepare this young adult for living on their own, and this is the time period where we see so often that they are not prepared for life.
Ryan: And just to be clear, Mike, how is it that you specifically answered the calling to solve this particular societal problem?
Mike: Well, Ryan, one good reason is that I was that teenage troublemaker! I know that scene extremely well, and the study technology developed by best selling American author and educator L. Ron Hubbard literally saved my life when I was introduced to it at age 21. This is an engineering approach to education where exact results are obtained from exact step-by-step procedures. Since that point, when I was turned around with this study technology, I have spent over 30 years studying how to apply this study technology to others, especially the teenage troublemaker, and working to perfect the blueprint so that any parent or set of parents can actually salvage that teenager before it's too late, before they go beyond the point of no return.
Ryan: And I have my fair share of familiarity with this area. I have had my sleeves rolled up for the past 20 years, digging into the exact educational difficulties that lead to unethical and immoral, non-survival behavior. It has been my privilege to train extensively in this study technology and the ethics technology that accompanies it.
Together, Mike and I formed a team that you can count on to get results. Mike, is there another specific group of people you're passionate about helping improve their conditions in life?
Mike: Yes, indeed, Ryan. There are those folks out there who either did not go through that troubled phase of life, or they straightened themselves out on their own, and are now out there in the work a day world, doing their job, and are saying to themselves things like, I never imagined my life would turn out like this. School never taught me to deal with a situation like this. Or, is it even possible to be happy living in this crazy world?
Ryan: Wow, you're getting a bit philosophical, but I appreciate you bringing that up. People's happiness in life certainly is directly related to not only their personal competence, but also the type of people that they are around every day.
Mike: That's right, Ryan. We are here to help them all. To all those who are listening, you can improve your life through education. You can learn how to become competent, meaning efficient and successful in anything you want to do. You can learn how to surround yourself with people who have the same mindset as you. You can succeed in life. We are here to help you.
